Howard Brunner is a Philadelphia-based photographer and an Associate Member of 3rd St.Gallery since 2015. Though he is best known for his documentary-style photographs of the urban environment, it is the metaphysical encounter with that environment that drives him to make photographs. Everyday Matters features a small sample selection from what is a much larger body of work entitled Urban Eyes. This and other bodies of his work are available at his website:www.hbphotoart.com.
Howard’s work is represented in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the James A. Michener Museum of Art in Doylestown, PA, and the Allentown Museum of Art in Allentown, PA. He has exhibited his work regionally, nationally and internationally for 36 years. He holds an MFA in Photography from the University of Delaware (1984) and a BFA in Graphic Design from the Philadelphia College of Art (1971). He was a Professor of Photography at the Art Institute of Photography for 31 years (retired) and remains a faculty member of the Temple University Architecture Program, offering a course entitled Photography and Visual Literacy.
