When I was in high school
I remember a Persian melon,
very light pale yellowish/green,
a sphere, sitting on the powder blue Formica counter,
(in my mother's kitchen)
reflected in the brown refrigerator,
it's image stunned me.
Still today
I try to capture the sense of presence in that melon,
where one edge of color abutted another.
That's what my pictures  are about.

My clay sculptures are filtered through ancient images. Influenced by Greek and earlier forms. I draw or carve on the pot and most often put a removable head a top a pot, therefore, it becomes functional and a surprise. Both the head and the pot stand alone and together.
