The landscape painter lifestyle is one of optimism and exploration. It embraces what each day provides and makes peace with it. It has been part of my prescription for healing. I find it satisfying to overcome an obstacle both in art and life. I call it the art of keeping a good view. I am happy to meet you!
My name is Lisa and I am an impressionist and plein air artist. I have lived and worked in Philadelphia my whole life, so I am thrilled to be part of the 3rd Street Gallery. After a decade of painting, I have a lot to share. My artwork has been shown in local juried exhibitions and included in curated collections including Penn Medicine Art in Cherry Hill and most recently the Bucks County Art and Wine Trail.
My favorite outdoor medium is oil because it can adapt and change. I keep a light weight easel handy, paint on small canvases or paper with a limited palette so I am ready when inspiration finds me. Oil paint allows me the flexibility to start a work on the side of the road and then bring it indoors still fresh and workable.
I also enjoy experimenting with watercolor, gouache and ink on a variety of paper. My technique is intuitive, create images in a loose and impressionistic style and then connect the shapes, values and brush marks.
I suppose I really like a challenge, as the approaches to oil and water are truly opposite. My inspiration comes from life and the landscapes I have connection to. The results seem to resonate with people, so I keep busy painting.
I believe art is good medicine. I used to work as a nurse but my whole life changed when I became a patient myself. Over the years my hobby has given me the courage to try new things, travel and volunteer.
