Keith Sharp: Projections

July 1 - August 2, 2015

First Friday: July 3, 5 - 9 pm

In the Talking Heads song, (Nothing But) Flowers, David Byrne sings of a world where modern progress has reverted to a more natural state. In his new body of work, Sharp also reverts to nature once again. Sharp used photographs of natural scenes, a digital projector, and a laptop to project natural images onto the sides of houses at night or onto himself that he then extracted and in which he placed the figure back into the natural scene being projected.

Sharp’s connection to the natural world came about from his life long love of the outdoors, nature, and gardening. In Japan, they use the word Satoyama to describe people living in harmony with nature.
